Our Story

We didn't set out to be everything to everyone.

EverKind started with a simple idea: to provide the kind of care we'd be happy for our own families to receive.

We began by supporting people in their own homes across our local area. As we grew, the people we were asked to care for increasingly had more complex health needs, and that began to shape EverKind into the organisation it is today.


We invested in clinical training, developed our competency processes and built teams able to safely support increasingly complex packages of care.

Along the way, we realised something important. This was where EverKind was at its best.

So rather than continuing to try to provide every type of care, we made a deliberate decision to specialise.

EverKind today

Today, our focus is specialist complex care across Yorkshire.

Much of our work is with children and young people, including those with significant clinical needs and life-limiting conditions. We also continue to support adults who need specialist complex care.


We work mainly alongside NHS Continuing Care and Continuing Healthcare teams, as well as families and the professionals already involved in someone's care.


Our care happens where life happens, at home, at school and out in the community.

And while what we do has become more specialist, the principles we started with haven't really changed.


Know the person. Listen. Get the care right. And do what you say you're going to do.

Still Yorkshire. Still EverKind.

EverKind was founded in Harrogate and Yorkshire is still home.

We don't have ambitions to put pins all over a map just so we can call ourselves national. We'd rather grow carefully, know our services properly and remain close enough to the people we support to know what's actually happening.


We've become more clinical. We've become more specialist. We've learnt a lot along the way.

But we don't want EverKind to become corporate or distant as it grows.


Because ultimately, complex care is still about one person trusting another person to care for them properly.

And that's something we'll never lose sight of.

Meet EverKind

Sarah, Nominated Individual

Sarah founded EverKind after more than 18 years working in health and social care, with one very clear idea about the kind of organisation she wanted to build: care should be safe, skilled and properly personal.


As Managing Director and Nominated Individual, Sarah has overall responsibility for EverKind and works closely with Sally on quality, governance and the development of our specialist complex care services.


She's still very much involved in what happens day to day. From developing clinical training and competency frameworks to working alongside professionals when we're setting up complex packages of care, Sarah likes to know what's happening on the ground, not just what's written in a report.


Sarah is also completing her BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing at the University of Sunderland, building on her existing experience and qualifications as EverKind continues to develop its clinical services.

Sarah in a sentence: Big ideas, lots of lists and a firm belief that “that'll do” isn't good enough when it comes to care.

Sally, Registered Manager

Sally brings more than 20 years of health and social care experience to EverKind, including experience with NHS Macmillan services and complex care.


As our CQC Registered Manager, she's responsible for the day-to-day quality and safety of our services, overseeing care planning, safeguarding, governance and making sure the standards we expect at EverKind actually happen in practice.


Sally and Sarah work closely together on the clinical side of EverKind, particularly as our work with children and people with increasingly complex health needs continues to grow.


Alongside her role at EverKind, Sally is completing her BSc (Hons) in Children’s Nursing at the University of Huddersfield. Her background in psychology also brings another dimension to the way she approaches care, looking beyond someone's clinical needs to understand the person as a whole.

Sally in a sentence: Calm, considered and usually the person bringing everyone back down to earth.

James, Finance Director

James looks after the numbers, but his role at EverKind goes much further than that.


With more than 20 years' experience in operations and business development, he oversees EverKind's finances and works behind the scenes on the systems, planning and infrastructure needed to keep a complex care service running properly.


As EverKind has grown and become more specialist, James has played an important part in making sure that growth is sustainable. He works closely with Sarah, Sally and the wider team on everything from financial planning and systems to contracts, resources and the practicalities of developing new services.


He's also the person most likely to ask the sensible question when everyone else has already run ten steps ahead with an idea.

Livvy, Operations Coordinator

Livvy keeps a lot of EverKind moving behind the scenes.

As Operations Coordinator, she supports the day-to-day organisation of our services and works closely with the management and care teams to keep things running smoothly. But her role is increasingly developing in another direction too, our people.


Livvy has completed her CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice and is now working towards her CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management, alongside a CMI Level 5 qualification.


As she develops her HR career, Livvy is becoming increasingly involved in the employee side of EverKind, supporting recruitment, onboarding, development and the processes that help us find good people and look after them once they're here.


It's a natural fit. In complex care, having the right people matters just as much as having the right systems around them.

Our Care Team

The people who make EverKind, EverKind.

They don't actually wear capes. But some days, we reckon they deserve one.


Our care team are the people who make everything happen. They're there at home, at school and out in the community, getting to know the children, young people and adults they support and becoming a familiar, trusted part of everyday life.


Complex care takes skill, and we take that seriously. Our carers complete the training and competency assessments needed for the people they support, with additional clinical training where their role involves things such as tracheostomy care, suctioning, respiratory support, enteral feeding, epilepsy or other complex health needs.

But we don't recruit people just because they can complete a competency.


We look for people who are kind, dependable, willing to learn and comfortable being themselves. People who can manage the serious moments properly but can also laugh, play, listen, encourage and understand when somebody simply wants to get on with their day.


Because the best care doesn't feel like a list of tasks being completed.

It feels like having the right person beside you.

And we're very proud of ours.

Good care needs good people.

At EverKind, we support children, young people and adults with complex health needs at home, at school and out in the community.


That might mean supporting significant clinical needs. It might also mean going to school, getting out for the day, watching a film, having a laugh or simply helping someone get on with everyday life.


We're looking for more than care experience. We're looking for the right people.


You don't need to arrive knowing everything about complex care. We can teach you the clinical skills you'll need for the people you support.


Kindness, reliability and genuinely caring about the person you're there for? That's the bit you need to bring with you.


We'll teach you the complex stuff.

Your training might include: 

Tracheostomy care • Suctioning • Respiratory support • Enteral feeding • Epilepsy & rescue medication • Nebulisers • Cough assist • Clinical observations • Moving & handling


And we don't just put you through a training course and send you on your way.

You'll have time to learn, practise and demonstrate your competency, with ongoing support from our management and clinical teams.


We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We do expect you to want to learn.
